Caridad De La Luz is a multi-faceted performer known as “La Bruja”, who is considered one of America's leading spoken word poets and was named one of the ‘Top 20 Puerto Rican Women Everyone Should Know’. As a recording artist, she has recorded 4 Bilingual Hip Hop albums: Brujalicious ranked Top 100 in London and Germany. As a fashionista, La Bruja is the official host of Bronx Fashion Week. Since hosting her first runway show in 2015, she has designed her own looks, modeled garments of emerging designers and was called “The Rose of Spanish Harlem” by fashion icon Dapper Dan. La Bruja modeled for Levi’s in 2005 and was in an international ad campaign that featured her poetry as well. She was awarded the Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship 2020-2021, The Edgar Allan Poe Award from The Bronx Historical Society and has been titled a Bronx Living Legend, along with a Citation of Merit from the Bronx Borough President. She has performed at The Apollo, Lincoln Center, Gracie Mansion, Cathedral of St. John the Divine, City Hall in NYC and many international venues as well. Since her debut performance in the famed Nuyorican Poets Café in 1996, she continues to host the Open Mic Monday nights and curates a monthly series called Beatnix night that features Latinx artists in the Beatnik tradition. You can see her acting in films such as Bamboozled and Down to the Bone. NY Times called her "a Juggernaut" and she is currently cultivating her own art space in the Soundview area of The Bronx called “El Garaje”.
